Edwards adds verses to the traditional song about Miss Polly's sick dolly. In the extended story, her dolly takes her prescribed pills and, when healthy again, celebrates with ice cream. The endpapers contain the musical arrangement and instructions for body motions. The cheerful, stylized paint and collage illustrations on their clean white background are as playful and silly as the song.
